EMIRATES DRIFT CHAMPIONSHIP TO CONTINUE 2022 SEASON AT YAS MARINA CIRCUIT ON SATURDAY

Round Two of the Monster Energy 2022 Championship set for action-packed day on 8th January with the Pro Knockout Tournament and Pro-Am categories The Middle East’s Leading Drift Championship will see over 50 drivers compete at the regional home of motorsport at Yas Marina Circuit

Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, UAE, January 7, 2021: The Middle East’s leading drift competition, The Monster Energy Emirates Drift Championship, is set to continue the 2022 season on Saturday at Yas Marina Circuit, as round two of this year’s championship kicks off at the regional home of motorsports in Abu Dhabi. 

Founded in 2018 to provide a platform for the sport to grow in the United Arab Emirates, the Emirates Drift Championship will see over 50 drivers from more than 10 countries compete for this year’s title with the opening round of action set to begin at Yas Marina Circuit, on Saturday 8th January. 

The 2022 season will feature the Pro Knockout tournament for the main event, with an opportunity for the sport’s rising stars to get in on the action in the Pro-Am driver category, initially launched in 2020 to aid young talent in developing their skills in the Vehicle Dynamic Area at Yas Marina Circuit. Drivers will take to the track to test out the course on Friday 7th January in the customary testing drift night as fans get a first glimpse with racers burning some rubber ahead of Saturday’s race.
 
This year will see a host of the top professional drifting drivers from the region take part in the competition, with the likes of Guinness World Record Holder and perennial champion, Ahmad Daham and the Middle East’s first female drifter, Noor Daoud as well as Monster Energy Athlete, Sheikh Sultan Al-Qassimi and His Royal Highness Khalifa Sultan Al Nahyan who are all set to line up in the twin-battle knockout competition on 8th January. 

Held at the iconic Yas Marina Circuit, the region’s home of motorsport has played host to the Emirates Drifting Championship since 2019 and serves as its official home for the sport of drifting in the United Arab Emirates as this year’s highly anticipated championship continues in round two on Saturday.

To ensure all health and safety protocols are followed in line with recent UAE Government guidelines, all participants and spectators must show a green pass on the Al Hosn app and present a negative PCR test taken within 48 hours of the event to enter Yas Marina Circuit.
